Voice Mode

Voice Mode allows end users to interact with your AI assistant using speech. Users can speak their questions and receive spoken responses. The assistant uses the same knowledge base and configuration as text chat.

What is Voice Mode

Voice Mode transforms your agent into a hands-free conversation experience. Users tap the microphone, ask their question aloud, and receive a spoken reply.

Flow:
Speech → Transcription → Knowledge-based answer → Natural voice reply

Starts or ends a voice conversation in the chat widget

Displays what the user said as text

Spoken response

Plays the assistant’s reply aloud and shows it as text

Enabling Voice Mode

Voice Mode is available as an add-on.

  1. Step 1: Subscribe to a Voice Plan

    • Go to Settings → Billing

    • In Voice Add-on, select a plan and subscribe

    • Only the organization owner can manage the Voice add-on

    • Voice is available only on paid base plans (not trial)

  2. Enable Voice for Your Assistant

    • Go to Configure

    • Open the Voice tab

    • Turn on Enable Voice Mode

    • Select a Voice

    • Optionally adjust:

      • Speaking speed

      • Stability

      • Similarity boost

      • Style

    • Save changes

If Voice cannot be enabled, verify:

  • An active Voice add-on exists (Settings → Billing)

  • The base plan is paid

  • A voice is selected in Configure → Voice

Voice Settings

Control how the assistant sounds and behaves.

Stability

Higher = more consistent tone, Lower = more expressive

Low = neutral; High = more expressive delivery

Recommendation: Start with defaults and adjust only if you want a calmer or more expressive tone.

Voice usage is measured in characters generated for speech (assistant replies only).

  • Longer replies consume more characters

  • Usage appears in Settings → Billing → Voice Add-on

  • If the limit is reached, voice requests pause until:

    • The next billing cycle, or

    • You upgrade the plan

End-User Experience

When enabled, visitors see a microphone icon in the chat.

Starting a Voice Conversation:

  1. Click the microphone

  2. Allow microphone access in the browser

  3. “Listening…” appears

  4. Speak your question

  5. “Processing…” appears

  6. “Speaking…” plays the reply

  7. After playback, the assistant automatically listens again

  8. Click End to exit Voice Mode
